The New “It” Shoe

It may not be the most glamorous shoe, but it’s more versatile than you think. The shoe consists of a mix between a clog and and a flat which is perfect for a day out on the town. When I think about it, this shoe would have been the perfect transition shoe from a flat/kitten heel to a high heel. I could have saved my feet from so much pain if I could’ve had this “training heel” instead of diving headfirst into heels.

What I love about this shoe is that you can wear it with some rolled up jeans or a casual sun dress and still be comfortable. Perhaps the shoe can look a little odd, but that’s what I like about it. I like that this shoe looks different  and that’s the beauty of it.

Down below I have listed, with pictures, the style of mule shoes. I have also added some pictures with outfit ideas and inspiration to give you a kick start in creative your own outfits.

The Flat Mule

If a flat and a mule had a baby it would be the flat mule. A mix between a loafer, flat and mule with an extra “Umf” in the heel.

The Medium Mule

If you can’t make up your mind on whether you what to go full out on wearing the classic mule or if you want a little bit more comfort with a less steep heel, then the medium mule is the perfect match for you.

The Classic Mule

Preferably my favorite of all the mules is the classic mule. My first pair of mules where black leather with a silver buckle on the side. I feel in love with these shoes because that seen them so many times on Pinterest and the Man Repeller website. The first night I wore my mules out I got so many compliments. To me the mule is kind of a more stylish way of wearing a comfortable heel without having to sacrifice looking put together.

The Modern Mule

Not only do mules come in black, white, suead or leather, but they also can be modernized by adding a funky heel or pattern to them.

The Platform/Wedge Mule

The mule with a modern and comfort twist. Loved by style star Leandra Medine of Man Repeller this boxy shoe is definitely a bold fashion choice.

The Thin Heel Mule

If a stiletto and a mule were morphed together it would be the thin heel mule. It’s the best of both worlds in this high heel mule combo.

The Bomber Jacket Takes Flight

Originally worn by military pilots, the bomber jacket would become part of pop culture apparel since the 40’s and onwards. Remember the movie TopGun? Well thanks to that movie and countless other 80’s tv shows the bomber jacket became a style statement rather than a necessity for pilots in cold weather and high altitudes. I like to think that fashion repeats itself. It’s a known fact that fashion trends of the past eventually make their way back to being in trend today. And if the trend or the clothing piece neither ends or doesn’t go out of style then it is considered “Classic.”

The bomber jacket or flight jacket has become the new statement piece of the military trend. Not only does it come in the traditional military green, but now you get it a satin material, quilted effect, and even reversible. I’m in love with the classic military green bomber jacket especially the one I had bought recently from Asos, but I’ve also had my eye on an embroidered bomber jacket that is a little out of my comfort zone, but I’m willing to give it a try. I feel that the bomber is going to be the “New” leather jacket. The bomber gives off an effortless cool vibe like the leather jacket would. I recommend if you don’t feel that you could rock the leather jacket then opt. for the bomber.

Let’s Talk Loafers

A classic shoe that has lasted decades, a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. Both loved my men and women this business shoe can be dressed up and dressed down depending on your preferred look. Lately my style has been changing to a more minimalistic or edgy look and I like the sensibility of a loafer. Whenever I wear loafers I immediately feel more polished and sophisticated. It’s an easy shoe to just slip on and go that practically goes with anything. The loafer is a staple because you never know when you want to look business savvy. The evolution of the loafer has changed drastically over the years from being the “Plain Jane” of shoes to being more fashionable by adding metal details or even adding a steeper heel.

I’ve recently been noticing that the Gucci loafers have been making comeback. I love the simplicity of the Gucci loafers with their horse bit decal on the front of the shoe. I bought a pair from Target that are quite similar to the Gucci ones and I am in love. I think that they will look great this fall with some black skinny jeans and a structured overcoat.

Baker Boy Hat Is Back

The military trend has been a favorite for a while and now it has a new twist. This hat comes with many names like the Baker Boy Hat, Captain’s Hat or Lieutenant Hat.  Loved by both men and women, this has been the most underrated hat for years and now the time for it to shine has come. This hat has been a favorite among celebrities like Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Diane Kruger. Back in January, supermodel Gigi Hadid was seen wearing the hat on the the cover of British Vogue. Now with so many style inspirations surrounding the baker boy hat, the question still stands. Are you willing to wear the baker boy hat?

Trend Alert! Coming This Fall

One of the most luxurious fabrics is now in trend for the upcoming fall/winter season. From designers to street style velvet shoes are all the rage. With the rich colors it will be the perfect fall and winter accessory. Designers like Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy and Balmain have shown off luscious velvet shoes in their Fall/Winter 2016 shows. I personally love the trend because I love velvet, especially burgundy velvet on shoes. I have also noticed that not only velvet shoes are in trend, but also velvet clothing like dresses, shirts and pants. I don’t know If I am brave enough to wear a velvet dress, but I will definitely wear velvet shoes! I already own a pair of Doc Martens that are in a burgundy/red color from a sale earlier this year. I absolutely love them and can’t wait to wear them this fall. Actually to be honest I already have worn them…in 80 degree weather, perhaps not the best choice, but I thoWant To Get The Look? A Fashion Show With A Cause

On July 31st 2016 I got the opportunity to go to a fashion show with an amazing cause. The fashion show was hosted by a charity called Kasie Helpz Kidz which helps children with cancer. The fashion show is hosted all around the country bringing children with cancer together in a fun environment where they can get all dressed up and feel like a million bucks walking down the catwalk. All the models in the show were cancer survivors ranging from the ages of 2-19 years old. Each model had their own outfit that they pick out themselves and got their hair and makeup done professionally, which I got to witness as the event planner showed me around the venue before the show and dinner started. The decorations in the room made it feel like walking into a fantasy wonderland of tulle and flowers. The twinkly lights gave a magical ambiance in the room which gave it a very special feel.

The backdrop of the show was this handmade paper flower wall. The details of the flowers were amazing and gave the room a sort of whimsical feel.

This little boy’s outfit was one of my favorites. I thought he looked very dapper and I especially liked the hat.

I loved this girl’s floral dress and updo hairstyle
This girl had one of the happiest and best smiles I have seen
These were all the models in the show

Each model in the show looked stunning and had their own attitude or as I like to think of it, a “model alter-ego” as they strutted their stuff down the catwalk. The event was enjoyed by everyone by the funky-upbeat music, fancy cupcakes, and of course the smiling models.

This little dude definitely had an alter-ego up on the stage
How could I not take a picture in front of this intricate paper flower wall?

The Anti-It Bag

The bucket bag has been around for years but hadn’t reached fashion industry fame until a few years ago. The silhouette of the bag is perfect for a chic, minimalistic look. It’s the perfect “anti-it” bag because it’s so simple and classic without all the bedazzle and fringe that it can last for decades. The versatility of the bag is endless. It’s perfect for a day full of shopping or a nice evening out. I love the bag because it gives an element of  Man Repeller chicness to it. If you don’t know who the Man Repeller is, then I suggest you look her up because like me, we both have a love for bucket bags.

The holy grail of all bucket bags is the one by Mansur Gavriel, as pictured above. I absolutely love this bag and it is my dream to one day own this perfectly leather crafted bag. My favorite is the one with the black exterior and the famous red hot interior which reminds me of a Louboutin shoe.

My Bucket Bag Collection

My first bucket bag is the middle one in the picture above. I got it back in 2013 when they were the new “it” bag. I was so excited to get a bucket bag that I brought it around with me everywhere and thus began my love of bucket bags. Now that I have acquired two more bucket bags to my collection I see that my taste in bags have grown and especially the price tag if you know what I mean.  I have recently fell in love with Zara and their bags. Ever since discovering Zara, I feel that I have found the holy grail of shops. Also thanks to Garance Doré’s book  Love x Style x Love  Zara has made it’s way into my heart and my closet.

The two bucket bags in the back in the picture above are still available on, here are the links if you’re interested.

My Next Makeup Obsession

Lipstick in Kidman Kiss, Lip Liner in Pillow Talk

Now, I’ve known about this makeup line by Charlotte Tilbury for a while now, but it hasn’t been easily accessible to me in the past. The only place I knew that Charlotte Tilbury was available was in the United Kingdom, until I recently stumbled upon a counter in Nordstrom. When I saw the giant sign and bright lights I knew that it was a sign that I needed to go over there and check it out.

While I was looking through all the makeup, I met the loveliest makeup saleswoman named Hannah. She had gladly played around with makeup on my face and I loved  every minute of the beauty treatment I was getting.  She was full of knowledge about the Charlotte Tilbury brand and she knew all the skin benefits the products would give me. I could tell she was someone who enjoyed makeup and was a good saleswoman too. Especially since she made me want to buy everything there, but I ended up only purchasing two items that day.

Lipstick in Kidman Kiss

The first time I heard about the brand was from British Youtuber Amelia Liana. Amelia was the one who got me hooked on the lip liner called Pillow Talk  (in picture above). My first impressions of these lip products were amazing. They felt so creamy and applied easily to the lips. The two lip products I went for were more of the pinky-nude range of colors. The lipstick I chose is part of a new line called Hot Lips. Each of the lipsticks were designed or inspired by many of Charlotte Tilbury’s closest  celebrity friends. Also with every Hot Lips lipstick bought $2 will be donated to the Women for Women International charity. What’s better than a lipstick? A lipstick with a good cause!

Weekend Travels Part 2

Ahh, New York the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere so they say. New York is probably one of my favorite places to visit in the U.S. I don’t know what it is, but there is just something special about New York. My favorite time to go to New York is during the holiday season because so many movies from my childhood where filmed there and the magic of Christmas time is everywhere.

Day 1

Day one was reserved for shopping or so I liked to think of it. Of course I had to stop by one of my favorite stores, Zara. I believe I counted three of them stationed all over New York while I was there. Although this isn’t the one I shopped at I still had to take a picture because I love the store that much and there was a nice car in front of it. The Zara I shopped in was the one on 5th Avenue. I found one item that I had been eyeing online, but never decided to get it until then. I’m the type of person who loves coats and jackets and I know it’s the middle of summer, but I couldn’t help myself and this particular coat was half off! It was a black short sleeve structured waist coat. I know that it was 85 degrees outside but I loved this waistcoat and fall would be coming soon anyways.

After the shopping adventure I went exploring around Grand Central Station and came upon a market that I didn’t know that had existed there. Everything looked so fresh, it reminded me of the markets I’d walked through in France the previous spring. While I was there I bought a baguette, a green apple, and a wedge of Brie cheese to snack on later.

As you can probably tell my face is as shiny as the lights in Times Square, sadly we can’t all have the perfect matte face in summer. I wanted to try my hardest to look like a natural New Yorker, but because of the hot weather I looked more like a sweaty dog than a sophisticated New Yorker. Times Square at night can be overwhelming because of the amount of people, lights and noises, but it’s still something everyone should do sometimes in their life.

Day 2

Thanks to Gossip Girl the Upper East Side is my dream borough of New York. I can only imagine what the inside of some of these homes must look like. The upper East Side has an elegance thats like walking through an old movie. I can imagine seeing Blair Waldorf striding down the street in her signature headband and elegant, preppy outfits.

When ever I get the chance to go to New York I always stop off at the ever so famous pastry house Ladurée. This place is a chic woman’s dream. With its aesthetically pleasing atmosphere and picturesque interior, one cannot help but take loads of pictures while also trying to order a box of macarons. Out of all the macarons I have tasted (which is many) Ladurée has never ceased to impress me. My personal favorite is the raspberry macaron, which is the bright pink one in the picture above.

It really was the perfect Sunday morning after going to Ladurée, I went window shopping on Madison Ave. and walked through a fresh market while on my way to the Natural History Museum.I loved walking down the streets and taking in all the city could give me.

I finally arrived to the Natural History Museum, but had to wait outside in a long line. Thankfully there were trees to stand under so I wouldn’t get sunburned…again. The wait was worth it because this is one of my favorite museums to visit. I’m the type of person who likes museum because I have an interest in History. In high school my favorite subject, besides art, was history. The museum was so big that I couldn’t finish it in a day and my poor feet were starting to feel the walking I had done that day and the day before.

I am triumphantly showing off my pretzel next to a Theodore Roosevelt Park sign because I got a pretzel from a street cart and because it was on a bucket list of mine. I know it sounds silly to put “buy a pretzel from a street cart” on my bucket list, but it was something I wanted to do and who doesn’t love a good soft pretzel?

While I was staring in awe of the view from on top of the Empire State Building, this little guy came in and about landed on my head! Who knew pigeons could fly this high? Either way I couldn’t help but take pictures of him because…well…why not?!

As the day came to a close I had one last New York coffee at Café Grumpy in Grand Central Station. I love it when the baristas put a design in the coffee, I feel that a lot of more love and care went into the coffee. I drank my coffee and reminisced my short trip in New York City and I hope to come back very soon.

Weekend Travels Part 1

As the last hurrah before going off to college I decided to go to San Francisco and New York  in one weekend. My journey starts off in San Francisco on a gorgeous Friday morning. Since I only had 24 hours in San Francisco, the best way was to spend it was at Pier 39. Pier 39 is the perfect spot for a short vacation in San Francisco because you get entertainment, great restaurants, museum attractions and of course the ocean. Nothing beats a sunny day, seafood and the sound of crashing waves on the pier. For me California is especially fun because of the large hills the city is built upon. I may have also slightly fangirled over the sight of  palm trees along the roads in San Fran. What? Can’t a northern girl get excited about seeing a tree that grows no where near her?

As modern as San Francisco I can’t help but notice the 1950’s or 60’s feel of the city. The cable cars used in the city can be dated all the way back to 1945. The San Francisco pier is full of history. I was lucky enough to explore two WW2 vesicles, the SS Jeremiah O’Brian and the USS Pampanito.

The SS Jeremiah O’Brian had the most amazing view of the city. I felt lucky that I got to experience what it was like to be on a WW2 ship that is one of the last few that is still standing. I walked around the deck and went down into the depths of the ship into the engine room. I couldn’t believe how hot it was in the engine room. Imagine if you had to stay down there all day like the mechanics did!

After I went through the museums I went back to the hotel to get a little bit of shut-eye before having to get on my red-eye flight to New York. The flight was fantastic and I woke up to a beautiful sun rise to New York.
